1. Stroll (Or a Bike Ride) Along Deal Seafront
Start your visit with a wander along Deal’s iconic seafront. The sweeping views of the English Channel, colourful fishing boats, and fresh sea air set the tone for a perfect coastal escape. It’s especially beautiful at sunrise or sunset.

2. Visit Deal Castle
Built by Henry VIII in the 16th century, Deal Castle is one of the best-preserved coastal artillery fortresses in England. Step inside its circular walls, explore the tunnels, and soak up a slice of history right by the sea.

3. Discover Deal Pier
Stretching 1,026 feet into the Channel, Deal Pier is a favourite for fishing, strolling, and snapping photos of the coastline. At the end of the pier, you’ll find an amazing café and restaurant, Deal Pier Kitchen with unbeatable views back towards the town. Be prepared to queue on a sunny day, but it’s worth it: the brunch is amazing!

4. Explore the Independent Shops
Deal is known for its thriving high street filled with independent boutiques, antique shops, and galleries. From homewares to vintage clothing, it’s the perfect place to pick up something unique.
5. Enjoy Fresh Seafood
Being a seaside town, Deal is blessed with delicious seafood. Try the local fish and chips (on of our faves is Seaview on the seafront), or enjoy a sit-down meal at one of the town’s excellent seafood restaurants (you must try Jenkins & Sons on the High Street).

6. Relax in Walmer Castle and Gardens
Just a short walk from Deal is Walmer Castle, once the home of the Duke of Wellington (and the late Queen Mother). Its beautiful gardens, woodlands, and seaside views make it a perfect spot for a relaxed afternoon. Not to mention the coffee and cake is fabulous! But leave your furry friends at the house; no dogs are allowed in Walmer Castle.

7. Take a Coastal Walk
The Kent coast is a walker’s dream. Stroll north towards Sandwich Bay or head south towards Dover’s famous white cliffs. The England Coast Path offers endless opportunities to stretch your legs with stunning sea views. One of our favourite walks can be reached at the end of Kingsdown beach, climb the steps and walk along the cliff edge. The views are fabulous and if you’re lucky you’ll be able to see France! If you’re really lucky you’re phone might even connect to a French phone network!

8. Sample Deal’s Cosy Pubs
Deal has no shortage of traditional pubs where you can enjoy a local ale or a Sunday roast. Many are tucked away in the historic conservation area, offering bags of character and charm. Try The Ship on Middle Street, or take a walk along the sea front, through Walmer and into Kingsdown and head to The Zetland Arms.

9. Discover Deal’s Art Scene
Deal is home to a growing community of artists and makers. Visit the local galleries or time your stay with the Deal Music & Arts Festival to soak up the creative spirit of the town.
10. Simply Enjoy the Beach
Sometimes the best thing to do in Deal is nothing at all. Spread out a blanket on the pebble beach, listen to the waves, and enjoy the simple pleasure of being by the sea. At The House in Deal you’ll find beach towels to borrow and swim shoes (those pebbles can hurt underfoot!). In the kitchen cupboard under the microwave you’ll find camping mugs and flasks, along with the most amazing plastic wine glasses that have spikes that stick in the ground! Head to the wine shop on the High Street (Le Pinardier) and grab a bottle to have with your picnic.
